Early Morning Sightseeing at Nikko Toshogu Shrine: Having National Treasures All to Oneself【26】
Day 9【2014/8/27】
Tochigi → Saitama → Tokyo
Left the manga cafe first thing in the morning and headed towards Utsunomiya Station.
Didn't notice last night, but there were banners of dumplings everywhere.
Today is sightseeing at a World Heritage site.
Boarded a train with retro coloring.
Arrived at Nikko Station in about 45 minutes.
It was raining, so we took a bus near Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
As you walk along the tree-lined path from the bus stop, you start to see the area with buildings.
"Nikko Sanrinnoji, Daiyuin Mausoleum"
AM9:00
Perhaps due to the rain, I was able to appreciate the national treasures all by myself.
Next, headed towards Toshogu Shrine.
Just walking in nature feels purifying.
"Toshogu Shrine"
Some places were under construction which was disappointing, but the majestic atmosphere was still present. It's understandable why there are many tourists from overseas.
After a thorough sightseeing, headed towards the station. On the way back, strolled through the streets of Nikko on foot.
The streets of Nikko were harmonious with nature, and the scenery was never boring while walking. It felt like it would be pleasant to walk back and forth if it was sunny.
Upon arriving at Nikko Station, ate "Mamadoru" bought in Fukushima while waiting for the train.
After returning to Utsunomiya from Nikko, went to Omiya Station.
Seeing these kinds of miscellaneous buildings makes me realize that I've come to the Kanto region.
Discovered a road colored in Omiya Ardija colors called "Suzuran Street." However, I'm more of a Urawa fan, so I passed by.
On this day, headed from Omiya to Ryogoku and did laundry at a coin laundry.
After laundry, went to Minami-Senju and stayed at a cheap inn for the night.
Well, the journey is paused here for now.
There were two reasons. One was to attend a certain event in Tokyo, and the other was to climb Mount Fuji.
It would have been best to continue to western Japan consecutively, but there was no particular strong attachment. There's no difference whether there's a break or not in touring around Japan, and there was no clear definition of touring around Japan in the first place.
The photo is the Pacific Ocean seen from the train window while heading from Tokyo to Shizuoka.
Now, the Eastern Japan edition ends, and it's the beginning of ~Mount Fuji Climbing~ and ~Western Japan Edition~.
Stopping Stations: Utsunomiya → Nikko → Utsunomiya → Omiya → Akihabara → Ryogoku → Ueno → Minami-Senju
Total Riding Time: 254 minutes
