I might have done some thorough sightseeing after a long time, Miyajima & Atomic Bomb Dome【34】
Day 15【2014/9/7】
Oita → Fukuoka → Yamaguchi → Hiroshima
Woke up at 5:30 am and had cup ramen. It was free due to a store promotion, but ramen in the morning was quite heavy.
Comic Buster was about a 15-minute walk from Takajo Station.
Got off at Nakatsu Station from Takajo. It seems to be a place related to Kuroda Kanbei, who was popular at that time due to an NHK historical drama.
Changed trains at Tokuyama Station and headed to Iwakuni. I had heard rumors, but crossing Yamaguchi Prefecture was quite boring. It took a long time and the scenery was monotonous.
Changed trains in Iwakuni and headed to Hiroshima.
Got off at Miyajimaguchi Station and headed for sightseeing.
It was very hot, so I applied sunscreen all over my body at the station.
As I walked a little from the station, I could see the ferry terminal.
You can ride the ferry to Miyajima with a Seishun 18 Ticket. However, only the ferry operated by JR is free, so please be careful.
Enjoying the view from the sea for a while, I arrived at Miyajima in about 10 minutes.
It was so hot that even the deer were resting in the shade, but it was bustling with many tourists.
There were residents living normally on the island, and it was a strange atmosphere where tourism and daily life coexisted.
Sightseeing at Itsukushima Shrine.
It was very enjoyable to stroll through the small paths and slopes spreading throughout the island. The occasional appearance of deer was also healing.
I was able to see the famous torii gate up close.
From afar, it had a divine aura, but up close, I could feel its age as it seemed like it could collapse at any moment being made of wood.
After touring the island for about 2 hours, I returned to the station.
Heading to Hiroshima Station, I felt the urban vibe.
I took a tram to see the Atomic Bomb Dome.
Against the backdrop of dusk, the quietly standing Atomic Bomb Dome had a single black cat sitting by it.
After touring the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park, it got dark, so I had dinner at Ootoya near the station and stayed overnight at a nearby manga cafe.
Takajo → Nakatsu → Kokura → Shimonoseki → Tokuyama → Iwakuni → Miyajimaguchi → Hiroshima
Total ride time: 406 minutes
