The story of becoming friends with a Tuk Tuk driver while hanging out at a club in Bangkok【42】
Day 5 in Bangkok【2018/5/2】
Since I overate the previous day, I skipped breakfast and went to Yunomori.
After a 40-minute walk back and forth, and sweating in the sauna, I got hungry.
Lunch at Terminal21 as usual.
A set of chicken, egg, and rice, coconut soup, and passion fruit juice.
There were two types of chicken, fried and stewed. The rice itself was flavored, making it a satisfying lunch on its own. The coconut soup had a surprising spiciness and a scent of coriander, which was unexpected from its color. It was quite voluminous with a good amount of chicken in it.
For dessert, I had a sweet with ice, candied pumpkin(?), and coconut flesh in a coconut shell.
I was indeed full, so I took a break while sipping warm Thai tea.
Afterward, I killed time by getting a facial massage at a massage shop near Asok station. Actually, I hurt my leg due to the daily massages and the resulting soreness. So, I requested the masseuse not to touch my legs at all. For better or worse, Thai masseuse ladies everywhere had strong hands.
Dinner for the day was porridge, meatballs, and mango juice.
I liked the porridge as it was well-salted and gentle on my tired stomach.
After dinner, I strolled through the night city and returned to the hotel. While planning for the next day at the hotel, I found out there was a club nearby. I quickly changed and headed to the club on a tuk-tuk.
Scratch Dog located in the basement of Windsor Suites Hotel.
As reputed, there were many women who likely worked at nearby go-go bars or massage parlors and Asian men. While being intimidated by the large number of bodyguards at the reception, I entered to find about 30 customers making a fair amount of noise. While sipping beer and watching, a woman who was drinking alone nearby approached me within 10 minutes of entering. With her gorgeous appearance and the way she leaned in as we started drinking together, I figured she was a professional lady. We chatted for a while, starting with names and hometowns, commenting on the songs playing, and laughing at other customers. It turned out she worked at a famous place in Soi Cowboy called "BACCARA." She mentioned she sometimes comes here after work to look for customers.
Of course, I was invited as a customer. When asked, "How much will you pay?" I was honestly at a loss. I answered 2000 Baht, intending to highball, but she said YES and stared at me intently. It would cost around 4000 Baht for a short time if you pick someone up from BACCARA, so I thought it was a bargain and we went to the hotel together.
Even after doing the deed, I still had energy, so I headed back to the club. At the tuk-tuk station, the driver who had dropped me off earlier greeted me with surprise. It's not surprising since a customer he had dropped off just 2 hours ago was back again. The tuk-tuks here operate on a turn system, and it was the turn of the driver who had taken another customer after dropping me off. Since I was there, I decided to wait for him and chatted with him for a while.
・He started driving a tuk-tuk after working at a hotel ・He learned English while working at the hotel ・Most tuk-tuk drivers can't speak English, so he can differentiate himself ・Tuk-tuk drivers work in three shifts ・He earns more than when he was working at the hotel ・He has a family
We also had silly conversations when an Indian guy came and negotiated the price, like "These guys haggle but don't ride," or "You, like other Japanese, have a plethora of choices with Thai girls."
Eventually, after talking until about 3 AM, he dropped me off at the club.
