Ran out of things to do in Yamagata, so I spontaneously decided to head to Sendai 2020/1/3【68】
Day 3 in Yamagata and Miyagi
Morning of the third day.
I bought souvenirs at Yamagata Station and took out coffee from Starbucks on the second floor of the station.

From Yamagata, I took a train straight to Sendai.

Upon arriving in Sendai, it was clear that there were many more people around.

I enjoyed lunch at a popular beef tongue restaurant called Kak, which I had researched in advance.
Both the beef tongue and beef tongue stew set I ordered were as delicious as they looked.

After lunch, I went sightseeing to Sendai Castle by train.

After a bit of a climb, a statue of Date Masamune welcomes you.

Following my first shrine visit, I also paid a visit to the Gokoku Shrine in Sendai...

At the entrance of this shrine, there were about five shrine maidens who greeted me.
After sightseeing, I returned to Sendai Station and took the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. The reserved seats were fully booked, but I was fortunate to find an unreserved seat and sat comfortably on my way back.

And with that, my New Year's holiday in Japan, which I hadn't experienced in a while, came to an end in 2020.
