Cycling tour of three selected London art museums: Tate Modern, British Museum, and V&A. June 2023【92】
2023/6/17 in London
I was abroad on a business trip until Wednesday and was feeling tired, so I decided to take it easy over the weekend.
After some contemplation, I decided to visit some art museums in London that I hadn't been to before.
I first headed to the Victoria and Albert Museum by bicycle from my home.

I arrived around the opening time of 10 o'clock and entered through the main entrance.
Its exterior is as impressive as the neighboring Natural History Museum.
Upon entering, there's a shop and reception right in front of you.

The four-story building is very spacious, and with a cafe, you might not get bored even if you spend an entire day here.

There are paintings and sculptures, of course, but even the building itself is so artistic that it makes you want to take photos.

The building as seen from the vast courtyard is also majestic.

There was also a Japanese section, so I decided to take a look.

After touring the museum for about an hour, I moved on to the next one.
After about 20 minutes of cycling, I arrived at Tate Modern.

Tate Modern is part of the national gallery network "Tate", and admission is free. (Donations and purchases in the shop are recommended.)
The museum consists of a main building and a new annex. The number of exhibits isn't overwhelming, so I believe you can tour the entire place in about 2 hours.
On the 4th floor of the new annex, there was an exhibition by Yayoi Kusama.

This exhibition required a separate paid ticket.
This art museum showcases art pieces from the 20th century onwards, with artworks grouped by themes.

Works of Pablo Picasso are also on display.

I wanted to see "The Weeping Woman", but it wasn't on display that day.
After about an hour of touring, I had lunch nearby and then headed to the next museum.
After another 20 minutes of cycling, I headed towards Tate Britain.

Tate Britain is a museum that displays British paintings from the 16th to 20th centuries.

"Rome from the Vatican" by Joseph Mallord William Turner.

"A Bigger Splash" by David Hockney.

On the way back, as I cycled home, the buildings began to look like artworks to me.

Although I was able to tour the museums at a leisurely pace, cycling to each place made it a tiring day in the end.
