Here is my "Another Sky" - Bangkok!!【4】
Day 1 in Bangkok【2017/12/31】
Utilizing the year-end holidays, I embarked on a 5-night, 6-day trip to Thailand.
Outbound: AirAsia (44,223 yen) Return: Scoot (21,442 yen) *Both were booked two months in advance.
Accommodation: Loftel 22 Hostel (4,306 yen) *About 860 yen per night
Cash: 50,000 yen *Actually used about 40,000 yen
Upon arrival at Don Mueang Airport and stepping outside, I was enveloped by the tropical air.
Having lived for over twenty years, this was my first time spending New Year's overseas.
My body felt a sense of shock, but I got used to it in about half a day.
I headed to downtown Bangkok by bus from the airport, switched to the subway, and went to Hua Lamphong Station where my guesthouse was located.
The subway was as clean as those in Japan.
"Hua Lamphong Station"
Seeing structures and tuk-tuks that are not found in Japan, I felt the reality of being in Thailand.
I left my luggage at the guesthouse and started sightseeing on the first day.
Nearby was,
"Wat Traimit" (Wat Traimit)
There were a few stalls on the street facing this temple, so I had my first Thai meal there.
"Pad Thai"
The Pad Thai I ate at that time was so delicious that it became one of my favorite dishes.
It was also very cheap, around 100 yen.
While I was eating, an old man joined me at the table. Although he could only speak Thai, he taught me various things.
・Bite the leaves of this green onion ・It's delicious if you put the sauce on the table ・Squeeze the sudachi
I was able to interact with a local person as soon as I arrived in Thailand, which I thought was a good omen.
After finishing my meal, I went to Taniya Road for currency exchange. It was a suspicious exchange shop called Taniya Spirit, but the rate was good.
I came back to Hua Lamphong Station and took a rest at the temple.
Realizing that New Year's Eve was approaching and I had no plans, I was thoroughly enjoying this situation around 10 PM.
(I deliberately didn't make any plans in advance.) (The charm of a solo trip is the freedom.) (I wonder what my family is doing.) (Japan might be celebrating the New Year soon.) (It feels good to be able to spend December in short sleeves and shorts.) I was pondering these thoughts while sitting.
Around 11 PM, I left the temple and strolled around the station area.
During the stroll, I noticed a few things, ・This area is full of 7-Elevens ・The coconut juice I bought at Seven was too sweet ・I bought a bottled drink but it came with a straw ・The night in Bangkok is safe
I was tired so I returned to the guesthouse and tried talking to the staff lady.
Me: "There's no countdown event happening nearby, right?" Her: "There is, but you won't make it in time lol"
It was already past 11:45 PM.
(Well, it can't be helped. It's me who came without making any plans.)
I went to bed before the New Year.
I arrived at local time 6 PM and went to bed at 12 AM. I was enchanted by Bangkok in just these 6 hours.
