The moment I stepped off the station, the scent of the City of Water, Venice enveloped me【16】
Day 7 in Italy【2015/3/6】
"Venice"
It's about 2 hours and 30 minutes by train from Milan to Venice. I had already reserved the train tickets in Japan.
As soon as you exit the station, you are greeted by the scent of water.
Blessed with clear blue skies, I enjoyed it so much that I forgot it was the last day.
Like the Duomo Square, the squares are filled with people and pigeons.
Another thing to be cautious about is the hawkers. They, often black men, will try to sell you various items like flowers, bracelets, or pigeon feed, and they are persistent. If you take anything, they will demand a high price.
We were cautious, but still, my friend A ended up with pigeon feed in his hand. Somehow, he managed to escape without paying.
That year, an acquaintance of mine was wrapped with a bracelet at Duomo Square and ended up paying about 30,000 yen. (Surrounded by black men, they took out bills from his wallet as soon as he opened it...)
Looking down at the city from a high point, you'll notice that the rooftops are uniformly orange in color.
Even the casual pathways make for a picturesque scene.
Lunch was pizza and beer at a restaurant along the waterway.
I returned to Milan from Venice, and headed straight to the airport to fly back home.
