Indulging in mangoes after a bath and sauna, having Khao Man Gai, now a Bangkok connoisseur【39】
Day 2 in Bangkok【2018/4/29】
AM6:00
The morning view from the hotel window. The scenery, clearly different from Japan, seen through the large window makes me feel that I am indeed in Bangkok.
I fell in love with Bangkok during my visit at the end of the year, and there were many things I didn't get to do and foods I didn't get to eat, so I revisited during Golden Week.
Upon waking up, I did some light stretching and strength training before getting dressed.
I strolled around the hotel vicinity in the early morning and bought breakfast at a convenience store.
The street in front of the hotel looks like this. It's not exactly clean, but it's very close to one of the busiest districts in Bangkok.
Returning to the hotel, I ate breakfast.
The bananas were less sweet than the ones in Japan. The milk was normal.
After breakfast, it's time to head out.
I bought some gum at the convenience store and chewed it on the way.
It was a type of gum I had never seen in Japan. I was surprised to find liquid inside.
I headed from Asok to Phrom Phong station, then walked along the street south of the station for nearly 30 minutes.
Along the way, I was caught in the rain and took shelter. The squall-like rain stopped after about 10 minutes.
The destination is Yunomori. It's a Japanese-style bathing facility with a large bath, sauna, and massage services. I will be visiting this place several times during this trip.
I spent about 2 hours here, relieving my fatigue in the sauna and hot spring. After bathing, I relaxed on a fluffy sofa, gazing at the Japanese-style garden while contemplating the plans for the rest of the day.
On the way back, I walked westward for about 20 minutes to reach the MRT station.
Along the way, I got lost in some local streets but managed to reach the station eventually.
From the station, I headed to Siam and had a mango set and mango juice at Mango Tango. There was a constant queue from the moment I entered until I left the store.
Being hungry and having sweated in the sauna, I was thirsty, so it tasted incredibly good. Mangoes are especially delicious during this season. I also liked the sweet and salty rice that came with the mango.
There were a large number of mangoes displayed in the showcase at the store.
After leaving Mango Tango, I returned to Asok. It was hot, so I bought soft serve ice cream from the same shop I visited yesterday.
It was a different green tea soft serve from yesterday.
After cooling down, I went to Taniya Street to exchange money. Just like the last time, I exchanged 50,000 yen for Baht at Taniya Spirit.
I returned to Terminal21 again and watched a Mini 4WD event while drinking guava juice from the supermarket.
Dinner on this day was at the food court of Terminal21. One of the reasons for staying around Asok this time was this food court. Here, you can eat various Thai dishes at low prices. It's always kept clean as there are cleaning staff, and there are also restrooms. I was determined to eat all the Thai dishes I didn't get to eat the last time I came.
The dinner for the first day consisted of Khao Man Gai (chicken rice), oyster omelette, and berry juice.
Especially, Khao Man Gai was delicious. The juicy chicken and the rice soaked in broth whetted my appetite. There are two types of sauces available for self-service, but it's good enough to eat without sauce. Soup is also provided.
The oyster omelette was cooked more thoroughly than the one I had in Taiwan. It seemed thin, but it filled up the stomach quite a bit, so it might be good to share.
After a satisfying dinner, I bought dessert at a convenience store and ate it while watching Thai TV programs in the hotel.
