First time trying Durian! ~Struggling to get rid of the smell in the room and breath~【41】
Day 4 in Bangkok【2018/5/1】
On this day too, I bought breakfast at the Seven Eleven in front of the hotel. By this time, the girls at the store had started recognizing me.
I got two hot sandwiches and coffee. (Two bottles of water are provided daily from the hotel.) I tried two different kinds from the previous day.
One was chocolate banana and the other was a salty flavor (I forgot exactly what flavor). The sweet hot sandwich was also good.
The weather was clear from the morning, and the morning sun entering the hotel room felt good.
By the way, I left a tip for room service on this small table every day. Mostly around 50 Baht.
Excited by the blue sky, I took photos of the mundane station, tracks, and the city view from the station. Surprisingly, these photos feel nostalgic after returning home, so I think it's not a waste.
The first place I headed to was the "Yunomori," which I visited on the second day.
Arriving about 15 minutes before opening, I sat in front of the reception, and the receptionist told me, "I'll take the payment first." She was smiling and seemed to enjoy her work throughout. In Thailand, not limited to this shop, many people smile during work, which feels very pleasant.
On this day too, I sweated in the sauna for about 2 hours before bathing. After bathing, I could cool down while planning the day on the fluffy sofa.
Even though it's May, Thailand is as hot as the Japanese summer, so if you walk while your body is still heated, you'll start sweating immediately. To avoid ruining the good feeling of bathing, I always set aside time to cool down.
The road from Phrom Phong station to Yunomori was also interesting as there were shops and somewhat luxurious hotels on both sides, so I never got tired of walking.
After bathing, I returned to Asok and had lunch at the food court in Terminal21.
Fresh spring rolls, rice noodles, and watermelon juice.
The fresh spring rolls were not from a permanent store but seemed to be a limited-time offer. They wrapped the ingredients and packed them in front of me. The taste was the same as what I usually eat in Japan and was delicious. Personally, I felt it was better without the sauce. There was a basil-like aroma in the sauce that felt a bit off.
The rice noodles were average. Neither the fish meatballs nor the soup were particularly delicious.
The watermelon juice was blended with seeds, so the texture was not good. However, the taste was extremely fresh and delicious.
After lunch, it was time for a coffee break. I ordered an Americano at a cafe called "Chez Charlie," about a 5-minute walk from Asok station. The weather was nice, so I chose the terrace seat, but I got bitten by mosquitoes probably because of the nearby plants.
After finishing my coffee, I headed to a massage shop called "Health Land," about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can get a genuine Thai massage at a low price here.
There's also well-chilled free water in the lobby.
After a 2-hour massage, I ate the soft ice cream I bought on the first day at Terminal21 again.
After that, I strolled from Asok station to Nana station to kill time.
Koreatown
I bought durian from a street vendor and took it back to the hotel to eat. It was surprisingly delicious. The smell was as reputed, but it wasn't unbearable.
When it gets dark, the tuk-tuks light up colorfully.
Dinner was, of course, at the food court in Terminal21. It's called Pier21.
The menu for the day was Gapao rice, Som Tum, and melon smoothie. Gapao rice is generally delicious wherever you eat it. However, it has a spicy kick which can make your butt hurt the next day. Som Tum is a Thai salad, and it's also spicy. Despite being a salad, it's quite filling, so it's good to share.
It was very unusual to have paper on the table. You rarely see this overseas, so I usually carry tissues or wet wipes with me.
The dessert was a Thai dessert. It had beans, noodles, and ice in sweet syrup.
Since I was full, I walked to Nana Plaza for some post-meal exercise.
I went around and looked through the 1F → 2F → 3F. I was grabbed by the arm or belly by beautiful ladies many times, being invited into the shops. I lightly brushed off the invitations with a smile saying "Sorry," but when one of them put her hand in my pocket, I panicked thinking they were going to steal my wallet and smartphone. (It ended with just a touch on the groin.)
