Everything is too delicious in Bangkok ~Honey Toast, Crab Fried Rice, Khao Man Gai~【43】
Day 6 in Bangkok【2018/5/3】
AM10:00
Due to going to bed past 4 AM the previous day, I woke up unusually late.
The view in front of the hotel looked like this. There's a 7-Eleven across the street on the right. The person standing next to the sign is a hotel staff member who guided me to my room during check-in. I gave a tip to the person who carried my luggage, but I was unsure whether to tip the guide as well.
For breakfast, I had Red Bull and Pandan roll cake from 7-Eleven. Pandan is a plant often used in sweets in Thailand. It was sweet and tasted quite good.
Going to the convenience store had become a sort of routine or mission for me. The female staff laughed, saying I was back again.
After finishing breakfast, I craved coffee, so I decided to visit a cafe I had been curious about called "AfterYou."
There are several branches in Bangkok, but I went to the main store in Thonglor. When I arrived, it was about 10 minutes before opening, and a Korean couple was already waiting.
The interior was stylish. It was just after opening, and including me, there were only four customers, so it was quite peaceful.
This cafe is famous for its honey toast and shaved ice. I ordered Shibuya Honey Toast and an Americano.
It was sweet and delicious, but the portion was too large for one person. Since I had already had something sweet for breakfast, it was a bit overwhelming. However, it paired well with the coffee.
After leaving the cafe, I went to Let's Relax to sweat in the sauna. Going to the sauna and bathing had become a routine.
I had eaten heavily since the morning, but I still had lunch. Of course, my last lunch was at Terminal21.
This crab fried rice was more delicious than I had imagined. The loose texture of Thai rice suited the fried rice well, and the mild flavor was to my liking as a Japanese. It tasted even better with a squeeze of Sudachi (a type of citrus).
This is the view of the road from Asok station. You often see pink and yellow taxis in Bangkok. There are many motorcycles, and at first, I was bewildered crossing this road on foot.
After lunch, I aimlessly wandered into another cafe I had wanted to visit, "ARTiS," which was about a 5-minute walk from Asok station. From the terrace seats, you can observe the people passing by on the Asok road.
The waitress here was friendly and spoke fluent English. When I ordered an Americano, she playfully asked with a smile, "Aren't you going to order anything else?" I was smitten.
I went for a massage again on my last night in Bangkok. Since my legs were sore from previous massages, I opted for an upper body massage this time.
To work up an appetite, I aimlessly walked around from Asok station to Nana station. Yet, I didn't feel hungry, but I headed to Terminal21 for my last dinner.
My favorite was the Khao Man Gai (chicken rice) and berry juice. I really liked the juicy chicken and the subtly flavored rice.
I visited the fresh juice shop every day for a week, so the staff recognized me. Seeing the staff always working happily, not just in this shop but everywhere, made me want to come back to this food court.
For dessert, I had Thai sweets. It was a colorful sweet dish with beans, noodle-like jelly, and ice in milk.
