Arrived in Hong Kong, quite delayed but it's safe here so I feel at ease even at night【45】
Day 1 in Hongkong【2018/8/13】
I went to Hong Kong & Macau for 5 nights and 6 days during summer vacation.
I traveled from Centrair to Hong Kong International Airport via Hong Kong Express.
Although it was Obon, I departed on the 13th, so I avoided the departure rush. Online check-in made the process smoother.
At Centrair, there was a children's event where they could experience throwing shurikens.
As usual, I arrived at the gate an hour before boarding, so I had some time. The airport has FreeWifi, so I checked my movements after entering the country and took a nap in my seat.
The airport always excites me with its vast space and the exhilaration of embarking on a journey.
I arrived in Hong Kong after 10 PM.
Due to the delayed boarding time, I wouldn't make it to the guesthouse for the final check-in, so I contacted them in advance. There was a note at the guesthouse reception saying I could check in the next morning, which was very helpful.
I took a bus from the airport to Tsim Sha Tsui where the guesthouse is located. I exchanged 5000 yen for Hong Kong dollars at a currency exchange after entry and purchased a ticket. The lady at the ticket counter was very unfriendly, and I felt the harsh welcome of Hong Kong right after entry.
It was late at night, so there were few passengers, and the FreeWifi on the bus was very helpful as it required no registration. By the way, I relied on FreeWifi for internet access during this trip.
I got off the bus near the guesthouse. I hadn't eaten anything since lunch in Japan, so I couldn't resist the hunger and bought a light dinner at a nearby convenience store.
I wanted to eat something typical of Hong Kong, but I couldn't wait to find a restaurant and chose a sandwich, banana milk, and a roll cake.
Although all of them seemed like something I could eat in Japan (as they had Japanese on the packaging), the crab meat sandwich had a novel taste.
With all that, I arrived at the guesthouse Rainbow Lodge, where I would stay for 5 nights, close to midnight.
