I got drunk on a day trip to Macau, but the Symphony of Lights made me forget about it 【47】
Day 3 in Hongkong【2018/8/15】
I woke up in the morning and headed straight to the ferry terminal without having breakfast.
Since there was some time before the ferry departure, I bought some bread.
I was worried because a typhoon was approaching, but we departed safely.
The expensive Super Class ticket was on the second floor, and there were only a few people around.
Meal service on board was provided. The menu consisted of two large breads, fruits, and water. It was so voluminous that I regretted buying bread for breakfast.
Due to the rough sea, I felt a bit seasick during the one-hour voyage. I was relieved when I saw the land of Macau.
At the information desk of Macau's ferry terminal, I got information about the bus to the city.
Like in Hong Kong, free Wifi is available on the bus.
I strolled around the streets of Macau for a while. There wasn't much difference from Hong Kong, but I felt a nostalgic, old-fashioned atmosphere, which was nice in a way.
There were gold shops all over the city. The design of this golden pig is the same as the one bought by Mr. Ogi of Ogiyahagi on a Tonneruzu TV show.
Fortaleza do Monte (FORTALEZA DO MONTE)
Looking over Macau city from the high ground, the gradient between the distant high-rise buildings and casinos and the nearby aged apartments was beautiful in a way.
After touring Fortaleza do Monte, I headed towards the city center. As I approached Senado Square (SENADO SQUARE), the crowd gradually increased.
Walking further down the street, I arrived at Casino Lisboa. It was conspicuous even from a distance, but looking up from below, its height was overwhelming.
I took a brief look around the casino while cooling off. It's "all free" just to look around.
After that, I toured around some buildings.
St. Dominic's Church (St. Dominic's Church)
St. Joseph's Seminary and Church (ST. JOSEPH'S SEMINARY AND CHURCH)
Ruins of St. Paul's (RUINS OF ST. PAUL'S)
I enjoyed some of Macau's famous egg tarts while walking around.
After finishing the sightseeing, I tried to return to the ferry terminal but didn't know the way back, so I wandered around for a few hours.
Near the sea, there are unusually atmospheric apartments lined up. Exercise machines are permanently installed in Macau's parks.
Finally, when I reached a place where I could see the sea, the sun came out. The walk from here to the ferry terminal drained my energy due to the heat.
The immigration from Hong Kong to Macau had almost no waiting time, but from Macau to Hong Kong took quite a while. Maybe it's the difference between morning and evening?
When I arrived in Hong Kong, it was already dark. I headed to Victoria Harbour and waited for the Symphony of Lights, which starts at 8 pm.
The harbor started filling up with people about an hour before, and it was hard to find a spot.
The 10-minute light and sound show wasn't as amazing as I had heard, but I was moved by the elegance of Hong Kong hosting this show every night.
After the show, I went back to the guesthouse and took a short nap. When I woke up, it was past midnight. Since it was late, I had dinner at McDonald's. I tried the Angus beef, which I had never seen in Japan. It was very meaty.
After dinner, I had matcha soft serve ice cream from a convenience store and went to bed.
