Yum Cha is profound; with each pour, the overflowing Oolong tea【50】
Day 6 in Hongkong【2018/8/18】
Final day.
On this day too, we left the guesthouse early in the morning and headed to have breakfast via the subway.
Perhaps because it was Saturday, we arrived before 7 am, but it was clearly busier than yesterday.
On this day, we ordered "Oolong tea." I was curious as most of the local elderly were drinking this tea when we came yesterday.
The taste itself was not much different from what we drink in Japan, and it was easy to drink. However, the difficulty of drinking was high, and I spilled it every time I poured new hot water. The tea leaves are in a bowl-shaped container, and you scoop the tea into the teacup from the gap left when you place the lid on top. Watching the locals and the staff, it seems like the trick is to do it speedily, but still, some was spilled.
What we ate on this day were shrimp dim sum and shrimp shumai. Both had a solid shrimp flavor and were very delicious and popular. They were greasy but bite-sized, so they didn't feel heavy for breakfast. Also, it felt like the oil was broken down as we washed it down with tea.
By the time we left the restaurant around 7:30 am, it was almost full. The ratio of tourists to locals felt about 5:5. There weren't many solo tourists.
Since it was sunny, we walked to the station and returned to Tsim Sha Tsui. We entered a supermarket near the guesthouse almost at its opening time to buy souvenirs.
It felt like a tourist spot in a way, as we could see a different lineup from Japan in the supermarket.
In the candy aisle, there was a corner for Japanese products labeled "Zero International." There were also many Japanese products in the juice and daily necessities sections, from what I observed.
After buying souvenirs, we returned to the guesthouse, checked out, and headed to the airport.
The airport is easily accessible by train.
After checking in for our flight at the airport, we soaked in the afterglow while drinking black coffee at Pacific Coffee. I had noticed this coffee shop several times on the streets of Hong Kong and was curious, so I was able to buy coffee at the very last moment. The taste was average.
We used Hong Kong Express for our return trip and arrived at Centrair in about 6 hours.
These are all the souvenirs from this trip.
The three items on the left are some mysterious Hong Kong sweets? that are surprisingly filling for their size. I personally got hooked on them.
