Feasting Until the Last Day: Hokkien Mee, Bak Kut Teh, Cendol【56】
Day 6 in Kuala Lumpur【2019/1/1,2】
It's the final day of this trip.
Waking up in the morning, I found new artwork displayed.

"Everything you can imagine is real."
It's a quote by Picasso that stimulates creative feelings.

I quickly packed my bags and checked out before 10 am. Although my flight was scheduled after 11 pm and they said it was okay to leave my luggage, I decided to carry everything with me as it would be a hassle to come back.

The weather was nice, but it was hot to walk around carrying 6kg of luggage.
First, I headed to a massage parlor called "Thai Odyssey." It's a place where you can get a famous Thai traditional massage at a reasonable price.

After enjoying a massage for about an hour, it was almost noon, so I headed for lunch.
I had decided to have my last lunch in Kuala Lumpur at the food court below Isetan. I deliberately skipped breakfast to fully enjoy Malaysian cuisine, a decision I had made the day before.

I had "Hokkien Mee," "Bak Kut Teh," and "Cendol."

Hokkien Mee was a popular menu item with a constant queue. The strong charcoal flavor wasn't to my liking personally. The ingredients inside were black and hard to distinguish.

Getting Bak Kut Teh was a struggle. Despite the menu listing individual prices, the shopkeeper stubbornly refused to sell it individually. They seemed to want to sell it as a set, but after insisting, they finally sold it individually. The taste was sweet and salty with a herbal flavor, something I had never experienced before. It felt like it could be good for the body.

Cendol was ordinarily delicious. I think I had it in Thailand too, but the Cendol here had a larger quantity and plenty of milk, making it irresistible for sweet lovers.

Satisfied with lunch, I revisited LavishSpa, where I had been the day before. I had stayed up late for New Year's Eve and was sleep-deprived, so I took a nap here and cleaned up in the bath.

After leaving the spa, I went to my favorite juice shop and had a fresh strawberry juice.

At the entrance of the Pavilion, preparations for a traditional event were underway. I was waiting in the front row, but it started raining, and I couldn't watch it. Seeing such events makes me feel the New Year.

Since there was quite some time before my flight, I went to KL Sentral and then to the adjacent shopping mall. I was planning to check for souvenir information at a cafe when I noticed an elderly couple speaking Kansai dialect in line at the register, so I approached them.

They asked for help with their order as they were having trouble. I bought their order along with mine, and we ended up having tea together since we were there. They didn't seem to have much experience traveling abroad, so I shared my experiences about how to get to Malacca, the characteristics of Malaysia, and we had a good time.

I said goodbye to the couple at a nearby supermarket and bought some souvenir snacks.
I arrived at the airport a little after 9 pm. Whether it was because of the night or the New Year, it was sparsely populated.

After buying a few more souvenirs with the remaining Ringgit, I spent the rest of the time at Starbucks. Today was the last day with the yogurt I had almost every morning. By the way, the water I bought here was not allowed on the plane. I didn't know there would be a baggage check before boarding.

The return flight was also with Malaysia Airlines. Shortly after takeoff, we were served a light snack of bread. The filling was something potato-like.

And before arrival, we were served a hearty in-flight meal. It was around 5 am, but it was delicious. The main dish was chicken with a unique Malaysian flavor.

The plane arrived at Narita on time at 7 am. It was January 2, 2019. The sunrise was very refreshing.

Here's a list of souvenirs I bought this time. (The small chocolate is not related to Malaysia.) I did laundry, organized my luggage, and immediately went back to my hometown on this day.

Of course, I brought souvenirs with me.
