On an already gloomy last day, my precious folding umbrella was taken away during Manila's luggage inspection 2019/8/23【65】
Day 7 in Manila
The morning of the last day in Manila.
Woke up at 4 am and packed my luggage. Since I had done a bit the previous day, it took about 15 minutes to finish packing.
The young man from Taiwan, whom I had informed about my departure time the night before, woke up at 5 am and we exchanged farewell greetings.
While waiting for Grab, we took a commemorative photo and promised to meet again in Japan.

Without time to indulge in sentimentality, we arrived at the airport in about 30 minutes.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport was not as comfortable as its reputation suggested.
After checking in and going through luggage inspection, I killed time in the lobby. By the way, I couldn't bring my folding umbrella on board. The airport staff said they had recently changed the rules.
I had to reluctantly discard my favorite umbrella I bought from LOFT...

For breakfast, I tried a sweet bread called Ensaimada that I had been curious about, having seen it several times in Manila.

Perhaps because it was pre-made, it wasn't as delicious as I had hoped. It had a cheese-flavored cream on top and ham inside.
I bought some more banana chips at one of the few souvenir shops and just slept until boarding time. (laughs)

On the plane, I planned to sleep right after eating the in-flight meal, but I ended up watching Crazy Rich Asians instead. I was thinking about maybe going to Singapore next, and before I knew it, I was asleep. (laughs)

And so, after about a 5-hour flight, I arrived in Tokyo.
Along the way, I suddenly craved a vegetable smoothie at Shinagawa Station. I feel like this was a trip with an unprecedented lack of vitamins.
