Whirlwind day trip from London to Oxford. May 2023【89】
May 13, 2023 in Oxford
A day trip from London to Oxford.
Since the train was on strike, I booked a round-trip bus.
Traveled between Marble Arch ⇄ Gloucester Green in about 2 hours.
Perhaps due to the holiday and the strike, the bus departing at 9 am was fully booked.
On the way back, the bus around 7 pm had about half the seats empty.
Upon arriving in Oxford, I got off at the St Aldates bus stop and headed to a pre-booked tour of Christ Church.

In the afternoon, it seems tourists are not allowed in after 12 pm as it's used by the people living there.
You can go around the Christ Church building and church while listening to explanations on audio equipment.

The staircase used several times in Harry Potter.

The model for the dining hall in Harry Potter.

It seemed like a meal was about to start, so I couldn't go inside.
A beautiful courtyard.

A magnificent church.

After touring Christ Church for about an hour, I visited the souvenir shop and then had lunch at a nearby pub.
Then, off to St Mary Church.

You can't enter the Radcliffe Camera without a reservation.

Bridge of Sighs.

New College.

The main street has shops you can also find in London, so you won't have trouble shopping.

The Ashmolean Museum is rich in exhibits, including paintings, sculptures, and artifacts.

It seems you can't see da Vinci's works without a reservation.
Oxford Castle and Prison.

It costs money, but you can also participate in a tour of about an hour.
Jesus College.

It was only about 8 hours of stay, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable day trip.
Unlike London, there's a university town ambiance, and the city is compact, making it easy to sightsee.
For those who want to fully enjoy, I recommend planning destinations in advance and making reservations.
